We bought a house yesterday.

Without ever stepping foot in it. Just a little crazy, right?

Thankfully my parents and our real estate agent were a huge help giving us their opinion on the place, along with almost 200 pictures. And we had the inspection so we have a good idea of the condition of the house.

Still, kind of weird to buy a home this way.

Brian has a holiday in a couple of weeks so I will be flying to Baltimore to see our new house in person. Hope I like it!

Great!

Now, I've got to know. Having bought and sold a few houses I know that settlement time is always high stress - will it close or not, will all the paperwork fall in place, will some last minute bank requirement pop-up, etc. So, how is it closing thousands of miles away? Low stress? If so, I may have to arrange to be out of the country the next time I buy or sell!

Mike, the settlement for Meghan and Brian was easy. I was the guy signing the papers for them. Do you know how long it takes to write out long-hand "Brian W. McDonald, by John C. Smyth, his attorney-in-fact" and the same for Meghan.....40 times? And from a guy that got a D in handwriting in school and hasn't written in long-hand since leaving school? My hand was hurting when I left.

Love to all.

Congratulations! What city is the house in? I'm assuming it's in Maryland.....

Meghan, it sounds like someone really wants you home to go through that!!

John, I'm thinking that if you wrap that hand around a few cold beers the pain will subside :-)

This is so sad to see you leave when we are finally making it over there.
