One step forward, two steps back

This week hasn't been going so well in the pregnancy department. I have had a hard time keeping food and water down again. Brian and I are ready for the end of this after 4.5 weeks.

Recently, I haven't been sleeping well. 10 weeks of pregnancy is a little early to start the sleepless nights, no?

I usually am in bed by 9 at the latest (a full hour earlier than normal) and take awhile to fall asleep. Then I wake up somewhere between 1-3 am. And that is when I have a really hard time falling back asleep and spend the rest of the night tossing and turning while some very vivid and disturbing dreams run through my head. Dreams of the chasing and hurting my family variety. Not really nightmares, because the bad stuff never happens. There's just always the threat it is going to happen.

So I wake up exhausted and anxious. Ready to face the sink or toilet (I like to change things up) and my toddler who seems to have more energy lately. Figures.

The other morning Brian, in all his intimate wisdom, decided to put full-of-evergy-Marion in bed with me so I could rest a bit more. Then, Marion licked me. And, of course, she found it hilarious when I screamed in surprise so she did it again. Where does she get this stuff? Certainly not a relaxing way to wake up. But definitely a story for the baby book!

I went through the same sleep problems, here's hoping they have Ambien over there! I am allowed to take 5 mg every nigh and it REALLY helps. Best of luck!

Got this from my dream dictionary:

CHASE-If you are being chased by a person he or she usually represents a problem which you are trying to move away from. If you are chasing someone else, you may have been trying too hard to succeed on their terms. To stop this you need to realise that you don't need their approval.

THREAT-If you are threatened in a dream, it can be a reflection of your fears in the real world about a particular person or situation.

Katie- I have an appointment in a couple of weeks. I'm hoping! But they wouldn't give me Zofran because it wasn't safe so who knows...

Colleen- Interesting... I'm always the one being chased so there you go. I think we all know the problem I'm trying to move away from. Hahaha. And the threat stuff too, pretty obvious. So now, not only is my all-day sickness affecting while I'm awake, it is also affecting my sleep. Awesome!

Hi Meghan,

have you tried some chamomile tea before bed or do you think that would make you nauseous? It's supposed to be soothing.

Also, I find that reading late at night is a sure fire way to knock myself out.

I have had insomnia ever since I was 5 weeks preg, I am at 16 weeks now and I have found that I can only sleep 4-5 hours at a time, then I am awake for at least 1 hour. Arrgh.

Here's hoping you can get something to help, I haven't asked for anything yet as I don't have a toddler so I can take naps in the late morning...
